19th-century French School. ‘Portrait of Henri Agasse’ Oil on canvas, annotated and dated 1813 in the top left-hand corner. Inscriptions on the reverse. Signature to be deciphered. Dimensions: 92 x 73.5 cm. Restorations Henri Agasse (1752–1813) was a famous 18th-century bookseller and publisher. He was a partner of Panckoucke and notably became the owner of the *Encyclopédie méthodique* and the *Moniteur universel*. Politically, he was a member of the first electoral assembly of Paris in 1790.
