Description
PISSARO Ludovic Rodo (1878–1952) – ‘West Bedford Riverbank’. Watercolour and ink, signed and dated in the lower right-hand corner. Dimensions: 27.5 x 37 cm. Framed. In 1898, Ludovic-Rodo moved in with his brother Georges (“ Manzana”) in Rue Girardon, Montmartre, where the letters he wrote to Camille, asking for essential practical support (such as newspapers and food), reveal his modest living conditions. He made several trips to London: the first, in 1896, was a holiday with his mother Julie; the subsequent visits, during which he painted and sold his works, took place in 1906, 1910 and 1911. He is also known to have spent time in the Netherlands in 1907 in the company of Kees van Dongen and Maximilien Luce.
