Achille VALOIS (1785–1862) Study for a Saint Jerome. Pen and brown ink over black pencil lines, 15 x 16 cm. Inscribed at the bottom centre: ‘St Jerome’. Also included are two further studies on the same subject (11.5 x 16.5 and 16.5 x 10.5 cm), a study of a full-length figure (9.5 x 6 cm) and a study of a bearded man in profile (21.8 x 13 cm).
