Attributed to Achille VALOIS (1785–1862). – A scene from ancient history depicting the massacre of children. Pen and black ink over black pencil lines (11 x 16 cm). Slightly sun-faded, with small stains. Also included is another drawing on the same subject (32 x 13.5 cm) and a study of a horse (28 x 29.2 cm). - Scene from ancient history. Pen and brown ink, brown wash (10.5 x 13.3 cm). Slightly sun-faded, with small stains. Two further drawings are included (24.5 x 34.3 and 26.2 x 35 cm). - The Death of a Hero. Pen and brown ink (10.5 x 13 cm). Slightly sun-faded, with small stains. Another drawing by the same artist is included (hole in part of the composition; 7.5 x 13 cm). - The Death of Caesar. Pen and brown ink, grey and brown wash over black pencil lines (23.5 x 35.7 cm). Creases, losses. Annotated in the bottom right-hand corner: ‘Death of Caesar’.
