Description
A Louis XV / Transition period, 18th century, rosewood and violetwood veneered writing desk with a curved front and sides, decorated with cube marquetry. The upper section opens with a flap revealing a compartmentalised interior with several small drawers framing a central open compartment, all in light veneer. The lower section has a curved front opening onto a niche with two doors. The unit stands on four curved legs. The top is adorned with beige veined marble with a curved profile. The fittings - handles, escutcheons and hinges - are in chased and gilded bronze (wear). Height: 136 cm - Width: 74 cm - Depth: 33 cm
