A rare model, a similar example of which is kept in the Royal Museums of Fine Arts of Belgium (Inv.10000/82). This work, which crystallises Meunier's fascination with hard work and bodies in motion, is to be compared with the famous Monument au Travail in Brussels, produced by the artist between 1890 and 1902, and from which our high relief takes a detail.
