Description
China, Tang dynasty (618-907) Porcelain stoneware jar with a finely cracked ivory-white glaze covering ¾ of the body and leaving the very pale earth bare underneath to the foot, four small handles to the shoulder, stuck to the short neck. H. 27.5 cm LM One of the handles is missing, worn. Provenance : Acquired by the French engineer and diplomat Henri Maux (1901-1950) during his mission to China between 1945 and 1949 (between Shanghai, Nanjing and Hong Kong), and remained in his family ever since.
