Description
A grey stoneware bottle vase with a narrow neck and enlarged opening with a cut-out profile, the base flat, covered with a glossy black slip (iron oxide) and a partial brown-green glaze, probably accidental - caused by ash during firing. Korea, Great Silla (or Unified Silla 668-935) to Goryeo period (918-1392) H. 27.5 cm LM Glaze worn and partly lost on the shoulder (forming beige concretions). A vase of the same type (with a slightly shorter body), kept at LACMA in Los Angeles, M.74.120.2, published in Korean Art Collection of the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, 2012.
