Description
Mahogany secretary desk with moulded detailing and mahogany veneer, opening via a drawer, a flap revealing compartments and drawers, and two hinged doors. Beveled and fluted side panels. Top in veined white marble. Stamped D.L. ANCELLET Last quarter of the 18th century. H. 137.5 cm. W. 101 cm. D. 41 cm. (Cracks) Denis-Louis Ancellet, admitted as a Master in 1766. Ancellet likely worked for Weisweiler, whose mark appears alongside his own. It should be noted that in 1791 he supplied furniture to the Royal Furniture Repository for the Château de Saint-Cloud.
