Description
CHINA, 20th century. A white-blue porcelain ball vase in the Ming style. The body is decorated with dragons chasing the sacred pearl in the clouds. A frieze of interlacing decorates the underside of the lip, which is highlighted by a silvered metal border. The neck is detached and is at the bottom of the vase. The porcelain rests on a support made up of two screwed-together parts: a lower part, perforated, forming a flower spike, decorated with four hoofed feet and chiselled acanthus leaves, and, in the support part of the pot, a half-sphere with four horse heads. The whole, as well as the rim and neck of the pot, are in 950°°° silver. Austro-Hungarian import hallmark, Vienna 1872-1901. For information: gross weight of unscrewed base (filled with plaster/hardened porcelain): 170 g Height of the ball vase: 7 cm, diam. of the opening: 6.9 cm. Minor cracks to the body. Damaged neck. The lower part of the base has probably been added. Expert : Véronique Gaudemer
