Jean Baptiste VAN MOUR (Valenciennes, 1671 - Constantinople, 1737) "Portrait of a Woman in Ottoman Dress Oil on canvas 38 x 30 cm Provenance : - Private collection from the South West of France. Related work: - Our painting is related to plate 73 of the "Recueil de cent estampes representing the various nations of the Levant, drawn from life in 1707 and 1708 by the orders of M. de Ferriol de Ferriol" (published in 1714) entitled "Fille de l'Argentière / Isle de l'archipel". The figure is depicted in a very similar outfit and décor. A few accessories have been altered.
