Oval gold and enamel box. The sides enamelled in translucent red on a guilloché ground, framed by white enamel fillets. The lid is adorned with a painted enamel medallion depicting Venus and Mars dressed in antique style in a wooded landscape. The borders are decorated with leafy garlands and enamelled in green and pink.
Marked for Paris, 1775-1776.

Master goldsmith: Jean-Joseph Barriere, received Master in 1773.
