Description
Césare LAPINI (1848-after 1900) Statue in white marble of a woman in the bath. Signed C. LAPINI, Firenze, 1885 and titled "Dopo il Bagno". Height : 82 cm Césare Lapini, an Italian sculptor in the style of Canova, specialised in female figures and religious or mythological themes. A member of the famous Florentine school at the end of the 19th century, he produced a large number of sculptures for an international clientele that visited Florence, buying allegorical and genre sculptures based on Antiquity in the tradition of the Grand Tour. He exhibited at the Esposizione Generele Italiana in Turin in 1884, in Rome in 1888 and at the Universal Exhibitions, including those in Paris in 1900 and Saint-Louis in 1904, under the name "E. & C. Lapini Bros & Sons of Florence, where he was awarded the Grand Prix.
