19th-century Italian or French school, modelled on an ancient original. Seated Mars, known as the ‘Ludovisi Ares’ Bronze cast with a black patina. Unsigned. Minor wear to the patina. Height: 19.5 cm The Roman marble copy of this seated Mars was discovered in 1622 near the Palazzo Santa Croce and was acquired by Cardinal Ludovico Ludovisi.
