A lady’s travel case in the form of a sewing box, lacquered in black and gold with mother-of-pearl inlay, decorated with vermiculated patterns, friezes, scrollwork, medallions and wreaths of flowers. It opens via a hinged lid with a gold-trimmed edge, decorated with a lakeside landscape, revealing an interior lined with violet silk and fitted with compartments and mother-of-pearl spools. On the front, the two panels reveal eight drawers and a dark panel housing a mirror. The bottom drawer, richly decorated with a cartouche, folds out to form a shelf lined with purple velvet.
