Flintlock hunting rifle, double-barrelled with blued flat-top barrels, stamped and decorated with thunderheads featuring golden rays, with a silver front sight at the muzzle, also surrounded by golden rays, and a finely engraved breech; flat-bodied hammers, engraved with swans, signed: “Aubron à Nantes”, volute-shaped pan covers, gilded on the inside, swan-neck hammers and finely engraved firing mechanisms; all screws guilloché-engraved; cut and engraved silver fittings, bridge adorned with an imperial eagle; stock in burl walnut, grip carved with scales and terminating in a dolphin’s head, with eyes in mother-of-pearl and ebony; the underside of the stock is chequered and features a silver thumb rest in the shape of a shield; the breech end is surrounded by fine carved pearls; a fan-shaped stock with a bone tip; length 120 cm (One trigger guard broken at the swan’s neck, but still present). Early Empire period. Very good condition.
