LAOS or VIETNAM, late 18th century. A large bronze rain drum with a brown patina, decorated with stylised amphibians, a radiating motif and concentric circles. The body is engraved with friezes and flanked by handles. H_45.5 cm D_60 cm, minor losses to the base. Provenance: French private collection, passed down through the family of an expatriate who lived in Vietnam between the 1930s and 1950s.
