Hot-water bottle table in veneer marquetry. The white marble top is framed by an openwork brass border. Louis XVI period. H_74.5 cm D_65 cm, damage to the marble. Probable provenance: General Oudinot, Duke of Reggio. A label mentions the presence of an inscription: ‘Mr the Duke of Reggio, 44 Rue de Bourgogne’, found beneath the marble during restoration. Nicolas Charles Marie Oudinot, Duke of Reggio, born on 25 April 1767 in Bar-le-Duc and died on 13 September 1847 in Paris, was a French general during the Revolution and the Empire, elevated to the rank of Marshal of the Empire in 1809.
