Description
Robert COMBAS (born in 1957). Tiger’s Head – 2007. “A funny little painting depicting a group of people and a particularly large panther. In truth, it’s a mask that a President has donned. In fact, it is a portrait of Nicolas Sarkozy (from the head up), as I saw on a TV programme where UMP politicians were asked: ‘Which animal does Nicolas Sarkozy remind you of?’, and the most common answer was a panther (sometimes black).”. Acrylic and tiger mask collage on canvas (slightly dented). H_81 cm W_65 cm In a moulded wooden frame. Provenance: acquired in 2018 from the Galerie Bertheas. With a duplicate certificate of authenticity from Galerie Bertheas (Saint-Étienne – Paris – Vichy). We would like to thank the Robert Combas Archives, which have confirmed the authenticity of this work and its archive number.
