Attributed to Jean RESTOUT (1692–1768). Full-length portrait of a man in profile holding a rope, with his left knee forward. Black chalk, smudged, with highlights in white chalk on beige paper (partially squared, small creases at the bottom, scattered small stains). Annotated in pen and brown ink in the bottom left-hand corner: ‘M. Restout’. Label on the reverse with an earlier attribution: ‘Restout Marc-Antoine, 1616–1684’. Height: 45.2 cm – Width: 26.7 cm Note: Technically, this drawing can be linked to Jean Restout’s academic studies (C. Gouzi, *Jean Restout, History Painter in Paris*, Arthena, 2000, nos.
