Alfred GUILLOU (1844–1926). Portrait of Jean-Christophe Kula (1823–1888). Oil on canvas, signed top left. Height: 56 cm – Width: 46 cm Note: Jean-Christophe Kula, of German origin, moved to Paris to work as a joiner. He had four sons, including Charles Kula, who pioneered the teaching and transmission of craft skills in the construction industry from the late 19th century onwards and founded the Atelier École on Rue des Épinettes in Paris.
