Description
Victor ROUSSEAU (1865–1954). Profile of Mr Cyprien Magnien. Oval plaster bas-relief, inscribed, dated 1890 and signed at the bottom. Height: 56 cm – Width: 46 cm Provenance: - The family of Cyprien Magnien, the great-grandfather of the current seller. Note: Victor Rousseau was a Belgian artist. Many of his sculptures are held in the collections of the Royal Museums of Fine Arts of Belgium, notably portraits of artists, musicians and royal figures such as the Duchess of Brabant, the future Queen of the Belgians. Our bas-relief depicts Cyprien Magnien, a painter whose work was exhibited at the Musée d’Orsay and who also had two paintings accepted for the Salon du Grand-Palais on the Champs-Élysées in Paris in 1904.
