Ferrahan carpet (cotton warp and weft, wool pile), North-West Persia.
Circa 1900–1940.
(Slight wear and fraying.)
Length: 145 cm; Width: 120 cm.
This carpet is adorned with an elongated, multi-lobed red central medallion, set off by a small polychrome medallion on a blue ground decorated with small flowers, leaves and palmettes. A wide red border featuring a succession of polychrome medallions is framed by two counter-borders with garlands of flowers.
