Description
Important GHOUM silk carpet, Iran Shah era, circa 1960. Dimensions: 400 x 300 cm. Density of approximately 9,000 to 10,000 knots per square decimetre. Silk pile on a silk backing. Ivory field with a mille-fleurs design, adorned with a central floral rosette featuring polychrome flower clusters in the shape of stylised diamonds, framed by fine scrolls of crenellated stems. Four spandrels with floral bulbs in a motif reminiscent of the central rosette. Seven borders, the main one midnight blue with a scattering of floral bulbs and flower buds in the shape of burst diamonds. Good overall condition.
