SAHELANTHROPUS TCHADENSIS, (“Toumai”), Upper Miocene, approx. 7 Ma. Museum-quality cast of a skull, a reproduction based on the reference specimen attributed to Sahelanthropus tchadensis, one of the oldest known representatives of the human lineage. Toumaï (“Hope for Life” in Dazaga) is the nickname given to a fossilised primate skull discovered in 2001 in the Djourab Desert, Chad.
