13. Suiveur de Gerard David (Oudewater 1460-1523 Bruges) La lamentation bears a monogram 'AD' (upper right) oil on panel 30.2 x 22.4cm (11 7/8 x 8 13/16in). Provenance European Private Collection According to an expertise by Rudy van Elslande (19 February 2011), the present composition constitutes an Andachtsbild, depicting the grieving Virgin pressing her son against her cheek for the final time. In his opinion, it belongs to the Brabant school of the second quarter of the 16th century.
