A Russian silver-gilt cigarette case with gild and enamel mounts Maker's mark in Latin 'PJ', St. Petersburg, 1896-1908 Rectangular in form with rounded corners, decorated with facsimile-style signature, monograms and enamel emblems, including an Italian tricolour flag, a pair of playing cards in white and red enamel, and polychrome enamel motifs of a ladybird and dragonfly, together with various Rococo-inspired scrollwork devices. The verso is similarly decorated with additional applied elements, the gilt interior bears numerous scratched names and dates, 84 standard, weight gross 188.76gms, length 10 cm (3 15/16 in).
