98. A Dutch Delftware charger with mythological scene, third quarter 18th century
After various print sources, featuring Perseus blindfolded descending on Pegasus brandishing the head of Medusa at a dragon to the left, and winged putti unchaining Andromeda from her rock on the right, within a scrollwork frame, the border decorated with rosettes flanked by acanthus scrolls amidst ruyi-shaped cartouches enclosing plum blossom flowers, 34.4cm diam. (restoration to entire rim)
