148. 148W An 18th century bracket clock movement now in a later case William Creak, London The case surmounted by a brass carrying handle over a bell top, surrounded by four acorn finials to a moulded top, the front with inset sound frets, the sides with glazed observation windows, all terminating in a moulded base and further raised on block feet. The 7 inch brass dial with Roman and Arabic numerals, the matted centre with countersunk shaped name cartouche signed William Creek, London with a finely decorated shaped calendar aperture, all framed by six cast brass spandrels. The break arch with strike/silent indicator. The double-fusee movement united by five knopped pillars with verge escapement and short bob pendulum, striking the hours on a bell mounted above. The backplate engraved with flowing scrolls and chinoiserie motifs. Both trains currently ticking and striking. 62cm (24ins) high. Provenance Property of a Distinguished Private Collector
