Description
A polychrome and partly gilded wooden statue of a standing Buddhist monk or disciple. A polychrome and partly gilded wooden statue of a standing Buddhist monk or disciple, depicted with a shaved head and elongated earlobes. The right hand is raised in a blessing gesture, the left hand held in front of the body. Clad in a richly draped robe with gilded and geometrically decorated trims. Standing on a polychromed lotus base. Myanmar (Burma), Mandalay style, probably late 19th / early 20th century. Shows signs of age and dry-cracking, including a crack in the base. H. 70 cm. -
