After Constantin BRANCUSI (1876–1957). MAIASTRA. A significant gilded bronze, signed on the reverse in intaglio. The original of this major work by the Romanian artist, created around 1912, marks the beginning of Brâncuși’s exploration of the themes of birds and upward movement. Height: 62 cm. This work can be compared with versions held, notably, at the Museum of Modern Art, the Philadelphia Museum of Art and the Centre Pompidou.
