Pierre GATIER (1878–1944), Oil on panel, Alain GERBAULT’s sailing yacht ‘Fire-Crest’ moored alongside torpedo boat No. 315, between September and October 1929, downstream of the Pont Alexandre III in PARIS.
This 11-metre-long vessel and its captain were celebrated by a large crowd of Parisians at the ceremony held in his honour at the Yacht-Club de France.
This painting serves as a testament to the feat of a solo round-the-world sailing voyage.
