Description
CHINA, late Qing dynasty (1644–1912) Cricket cage comprising a calabash and a circular ivory lid surmounted by an openwork handle in brown horn, decorated with a motif of pine branches. Resting on an ivory pedestal. H.: 12 cm. Gross weight: 97 g. (Crack and very minor damage to the horn). Provenance: purchased in 1987 in Hong Kong from an antique dealer. *Specimen made of ivory from Elephas maximus (Elephantidae), in accordance with the Ministerial Order of 4 May 2017 authorising the trade in antique ivory from Elephantidae. A CITES authorisation No. FR2600600314-K, issued on 9 June 2026 and valid for the movement of the item solely within the EU, will be provided to the purchaser. In the event of export outside the European Union, a CITES re-export permit must be obtained in advance. The purchaser shall be responsible for the relevant procedures. It is the successful bidder’s responsibility to enquire, prior to any purchase, with the relevant authorities regarding the applicable import and re-export conditions. The auction house accepts no liability in the event of any restrictions, refusals or delays relating to the obtaining of the necessary authorisations.
