Description
CHINA, 19th century Rectangular Bitong brush holder in polychrome enamelled porcelain. The four sides are decorated with iron-red enamelled reserves with polychrome highlights, each depicting a mythical character, and surrounded by a stylised openwork design of honeycomb, Swastika and various geometric motifs. The whole is edged with a red enamelled lattice pattern. The neck is decorated with a frieze of hatched rectangles topped with a pale green enamelled border. H. 15.5 - L 10.7 cm. (Chips and cracks).
