CHINA, Ming dynasty, 17th century
A partially gilded bronze subject depicting a seated Guanyin in dhyanasana, her hands clasped on her knees in dyana mudra. The deity is dressed in an ample robe, her torso uncovered, gilded and adorned with jewels including a pendant necklace. Her face looks serene, her eyes half-closed, and her thin-lipped mouth reveals a slight smile. The hair is in a high bun, topped with a large wrought crown and housing an image of the seated Buddha, with long locks falling down the shoulders.
