Description
THAILAND, 19th century Buddha in gilded bronze, richly sculpted, depicted standing on a lotiform base decorated with glass tesserae, dressed in a richly adorned monastic robe, both hands in Abhaya Mudra. The face is serene, the eyes half-closed, the eyebrows delicately arched, the mouth slightly smiling and the ears with drooping lobes. The head is crowned with the Ushnisha, topped with a stylised point on three levels. The whole resting on a richly sculpted stepped circular base decorated with coloured glass tesserae. H. 184 cm (with base). (Some gilding, slight wear and tear, one small piece needs to be refixed).
