INDIA or IRAN, late 19th - early 20th century Pair of textile fragments in royal blue velvet richly embroidered with gold and silver metallic threads, decorated with a large stylised palmette containing foliage and floral motifs, punctuated with reserves in relief evoking sconces or hanging lights. The border is underlined by a frame embroidered with fine sinuous stems, embellished with repeating radiating motifs reminiscent of small flames or stylised candlesticks. L.: 61 - W.: 42 cm.
