Description
CENTRAL ASIA, probably Uzbekistan, 19th century
Covered ewer in bronze and copper alloy, richly chased and engraved in relief with flowers, foliage and stylised geometric motifs. The body is pear-shaped, resting on a stepped circular foot, flanked by a lateral "esse" handle with a slightly curved pouring spout. The neck has a flared mouth, emphasised by a median annular bead engraved with a frieze of lozenges. The domed lid is hinged at the handle.
Owner's inscription engraved on the handle.
