OTTOMAN EMPIRE, early 20th century Tobacco box simulating a postal envelope, in silver with chequered niello decoration, decorated with postage stamps and trompe-l'oeil cachet. Inscription VAN in Latin and Arabic letters with the date, probably corresponding to 1907. Silver hallmark "فان ٩٠" (VAN 90) for 800 thousandths silver.
