Description
MOROCCO, Fez, 20th century Two circular dishes with feet called "tobsils" in polychrome enamelled ceramic. One decorated in shades of green, yellow, cobalt and manganese, with a central inscription "Fez" in Arabic letters in a hexagonal cartouche surrounded by trapezoidal reserves with foliage motifs on a background of latticework and scrolls. The umbilicus is decorated with a four-petal flower in yellow enamel within a hexagonal cartouche surrounded by a six-pointed star. The whole is edged with geometric motifs, foliage and various dotted lines. Holes for hanging on the reverse. Signed under the base. Diameters: 28.5 and 29 cm. (Slight chips).
