Formerly attributed to the school of Benvenuto da Garafalo, known as Tisio.
This painting was based on an engraving by Polidoro da Caravaggio (1499–1500/1543), which in turn was based on a composition by Cort Cornelis (1533/1578).
Attached is a certificate from the expert Mr Paul ANTONINI dated 4 November 1960: “School of Benvenuto da Garafalo, known as Tisio / ‘The Adoration of the Magi’ / Canvas” etc., following the auction conducted by Maître Le Houelleur on 22 January 1961 in DEAUVILLE.
