SOCIÉTÉ DE REPRODUCTION DE DESSINS DE MAÎTRES (1909–1914) ‘Study for The Neapolitan Fisherman’ by Jean-Baptiste Carpeaux Facsimile 28.5 x 20 cm. (on demand) SRDM mark in the lower left-hand corner (Lugt 5417). The original drawing was exhibited under no. 783 in the Official General Catalogue of the 1900 Exhibition (Centennial Exhibition). Lille, undated, in-8°. *The Neapolitan Fisherman*, also known as *The Child with the Shell*, was sent to Paris by Carpeaux in 1858, whilst he was a student at the École de Rome. The bronze was exhibited at the 1859 Salon and the marble version at the 1863 Salon. The artist produced several replicas. The original drawing appears to relate to the version in which the head is slightly draped and which is known as *The Laughing Neapolitan*. Provenance and exhibition history to be completed. Search for the collector’s stamp in the Lugt.
