Description
JOHNNY HALLYDAY (1943/2017): A 6-string Eko guitar, owned by the rocker at the start of his career and offered to the winner of a competition organised in the monthly Ciné-Music-Magazine at the very beginning of 1963. The name of the winner, 16-year-old Marcel Duclos from Châteaubourg in the Ile-&-Vilaine region, was announced in the May 1963 issue of the magazine. A handwritten letter signed by Johnny Hallyday accompanied the guitar, which was given to Marcel Duclos a few weeks later, according to the young rocker's schedule: "My Dear Marcel, I'm sorry for all the hassles (tours, films, etc.) that have prevented me from making an appointment with you in Paris to give you my first guitar, which you brilliantly won in the 'Music-Magazine' competition. The fact that you don't live in Paris hasn't made the problem any easier.
So as not to make you wait any longer, I'm sending it directly to you, and I hope it will bring you all the success it has helped me to achieve. Your friend Johnny Hallyday".
Johnny confirmed that this instrument was his very first guitar, which he used on stage during his first concerts and public performances.
A historic guitar in the artist's hectic life. A handwritten letter from Johnny Hallyday, inseparable from the instrument, is included.
Beautiful condition. Origin: Estate of Marcel Duclos.
Expert: Mr Fabien LECOEUVRE
