PAINTING “STORM” by Jean-Daniel LAMY (1968) Dry pastel on paper, framed under glass, signed and dated “1994” in the bottom right-hand corner. Signed, titled and dated “1994” on the back of the frame, with studio stamp. Dimensions: 48 x 63 cm (visible area) Good condition Jean LAMY is an animal artist with a passion for the marine world and the forest. From a very young age, he discovered the underwater world through numerous dives, fell in love with its diversity, colours and shapes, and has remained in constant awe ever since. His discovery of the forest began when he left Paris for the countryside. He settled with his parents in Senlis and began sketching animals whilst out walking. After studying graphic design and textile design in Toulouse and Paris, he devoted himself to oil painting on tissue paper and wood, as well as drawing on paper. Jean exhibits his works at the Musée de la Marine at Porte Maillot in Paris, the Natural History Museum in Paris and the Oceanographic Museum in Monaco, amongst others. He takes part in the Underwater Image Festivals in Antibes and Nausicaa in France, the Dive Show in Las Vegas, ‘Beneath the Sea’ in New Jersey, and the Go Diving Show in Birmingham and London. His works appear in books such as *Poisson* by the Oceanographic Museum of Monaco and *Cuir de Russie* published by Éditions d’arts Monelle Hayot. He has contributed to several projects, notably in 1992 for Éditions Gallimard and Éditions d’arts Monelle Hayot, in 1993 for the ‘La route historique du cheval’ poster for Hermès, packaging design for Crayola and for the Serpaut, Hargittai and Baccarat.
