Provenance: private collection, by descent
Richard Desvallières was the son of the painter George Desvallières. An ironworker and journeyman blacksmith, his works, both sacred and secular, adorn numerous private mansions, churches and public monuments, particularly in the Aube, Aisne and Seine-et-Marne regions.
A monographic exhibition ("Richard Desvallières: Dialogue du fer avec le feu" was devoted to him from 5 October 2016 to 30 April 2017 at the Maison de l'Outil et de la Pensée Ouvrière in Troyes.
