Description
Portico-shaped reliquary clock in white marble and ormolu, the uprights with smooth-stemmed columns, surmounted by an entablature and adorned with baluster vases. The whole is crowned by a bollard bearing the Latin inscription "Satis Tibi Patriae Parum". The sphere with the enamelled inscription "SIR EDWD WM James OB 16 NOV 1792 AE 17YS". The reverse bears the English inscription "What moment granted man without account". The circular dial has a white enamelled background, the hours in Arabic numerals. Signed PIOLAINE A PARIS. Louis XVI period. Total dimensions: 59x39x16cm. Pendulum movement on fork, striking on gong. Parts to be reassembled. Modifications to the movement, operation not guaranteed, servicing required by a professional. A flower has been re-soldered to a vase. The glass on the front bezel is missing. Wear and tear.
