Attributed to Father NICOLAU (active between 1390 and 1408) Saint Anthony the Abbot Tempera on a gold ground Height: 60 cm Width: 50 cm Provenance: - Galerie André Gombert, Paris, - Its sale in Paris, Hôtel Georges V, Tajan auction house, 12 June 1995, lot 1 (attributed to Pere Nicolau, hammer price 75,000 francs). This panel may be compared with the very similar depiction of the same Saint Anthony the Abbot in the predella of the altarpiece of the Seven Joys of the Virgin, originally from the church of Sarrión, near Teruel, now held at the Museum of Fine Arts in Valencia and dated 1404 according to payment records in the archives.
