Academy of a man Black stone Signed lower right in pen and brown ink: Lorichon 1818 Other illegible annotations Height 590 mm - Width 422 mm A French engraver and pupil of François Forster, Constant-Louis-Antoine Lorichon won the Prix de Rome for engraving in 1820. This academy of a man, executed in black stone and dated 1818, bears witness to his talent as a draughtsman. The male model, depicted full-length in a pose inspired by Antiquity, stands out against a blurred background that accentuates the contrasts.
