Born in Thailand and based in France, Somsak Hanumas has developed a powerful body of work in which colour and matter become language. Trained at the Toulouse School of Fine Arts, his painting is physical and instinctive, with layers, transparencies, scars and chromatic tensions running through it.
His work draws on a dual culture - Eastern and Western - to create meditative canvases in which apparent chaos reveals an inner balance. Somsak Hanumas has been exhibited at a number of art fairs and private collections in Europe, and his sensitive abstraction evokes memory, the organic and spiritual.
For him, each work is a place of experience, of stripping away and rebuilding.

Born in Thailand and based in France, Somsak Hanumas creates powerful works in which colour and texture become a language. Trained at the École des Beaux-Arts in Toulouse, he has made a name for himself with a physical, instinctive style of painting characterised by layers, transparencies, scars, and chromatic tensions.
His practice draws on a dual cultural heritage-Eastern and Western-to create meditative canvases where apparent chaos reveals an inner balance. Featured in several art fairs and private collections across Europe, Somsak Hanumas constructs a sensitive abstraction that evokes memory, the organic, and spirituality.
For him, each work is a space for experience, stripping away, and reconstruction.
