The turtle ship (Korean: Geobukseon 거북선) is a Korean warship used notably during the Imjin War in 1592, at the Battle of Sacheon[1] against a Japanese attack.
The first mention of a turtle ship is, in fact, found in the Annals of the Joseon Dynasty from 1415, which describes a battle between one such vessel and a Japanese ship. However, this type of ship appears to have been forgotten until it was rediscovered and refined by Yi Sun-sin, the famous Korean admiral and national hero. (Wikipedia)
